Mic Drop
Mic Drop is a publication produced in partnership with students from Northeastern Illinois University and Imagine Justice a non-profit working to end mass incarceration in the United States. in collaboration between me, journalism major Jasmine Rodriguez, and a group of incarcerated music students at Statesville penitentiary in Joliet, Illinois. The publication unifies the lived and shared experiences of incarcerated students inside of a music program at the prison called "Rebirth of Sound." My part in this project was as a Graphic and Layout Designer. I created the cover, layout designs, type design, graphic elements, and formatted the photography to highlight each man's unique story.
Imagine Justice is a foundation working to combat mass incarceration in the United States. Founded by Chicago hip hop artist and rapper Common, the non-profit serves to collaborate and to co-produce new projects for nonprofits, companies and social impact campaigns.
